The extraction recognises the fiscal identifiers and layouts printed in the markets where Lumy is most used, among them Moldova (IDNO), Romania (CUI / CIF), Ukraine (ЄДРПОУ), Poland (NIP), Czechia (DIČ), Russia (ИНН) and Germany (USt-IdNr).
Receipt formats differ from country to country and from chain to chain — this is a list of what the scanner knows to look for, not a promise about any particular till.
No scanner reads every receipt correctly. Faded thermal paper, folds and unusual layouts still cause mistakes — which is why nothing is saved before you have seen it.
AI-assisted, and you have the last word
The scan produces a draft, not a saved transaction. Check the scanned receipt before relying on it — review the merchant, each item name, quantity, unit and price, fix unclear text, add missing items and remove junk lines.
When the items do not add up to the printed total, Lumy says so instead of quietly saving a number that does not match your receipt.

What the scanner reads, what it gets wrong, and what happens to the photo.
Does Lumy work with Romanian receipts?
Yes. Romanian layouts are among the ones the extraction is written against — diacritics are kept as printed, decimal commas are read correctly, and the two-line "2 BUC X 22.00 = 44.00" price shape is understood. It also reads the CUI or CIF when the receipt prints one.
Can it recognize Cyrillic receipts?
Yes. Receipts printed in Cyrillic are transcribed as printed, including currency written as "лей" and fiscal identifiers such as ИНН or ЄДРПОУ. Product names stay in their original language; only the internal comparison key is normalised.
Does receipt scanning work without connecting my bank?
Yes, and there is no other option — Lumy has no bank connection. Scanning a receipt is one of the ways an expense gets into Lumy at all, alongside typing, chat and voice.
What happens if the scan is wrong?
You fix it before saving. Every field is editable: merchant, date, total, currency, category and each product line. If the items do not add up to the printed total, Lumy flags the receipt for review rather than saving it silently.
Can Lumy recognize products from a supermarket receipt?
Yes — individual product lines with quantity, unit and price, including items sold by weight. Long receipts can be photographed in parts, and Lumy assembles the sections into one purchase. Very long or badly printed receipts are where mistakes are most likely.
Does Lumy work with different currencies?
Yes. The currency is read from the receipt exactly as printed and resolved against your wallet, across the 44 currencies Lumy supports. Amounts recorded in another currency stay in that currency.
Are receipts stored permanently?
Receipt photos are stored locally on your device, along with your AI chat history. The expense and its product lines sync to your account so they are available on your other devices and to your family group. You can delete your account and its data at any time.
